BEHIND THE NAME “VENUS”

Venus is one of the brightest objects visible in Earth's night sky. In fact, aside from the Sun and Moon, Venus is the brightest natural object we regularly see from Earth.

Because it shines so brightly around sunrise or sunset, Venus has often been called the “Morning Star” or “Evening Star.”

🔥 The Hottest Planet

Mercury may be closer to the Sun, but Venus is actually the hottest planet in our solar system. Its thick atmosphere traps enormous amounts of heat, with surface temperatures around 870°F.

☁️ Hidden Beneath the Clouds

• Venus is permanently covered by thick clouds containing sulfuric acid, making it impossible to see its surface normally from space.

🔄 Spinning Backward

• Venus rotates in the opposite direction from most planets. If you could stand on its surface and see through the clouds, the Sun would appear to rise in the west and set in the east.

📅 A Day Longer Than a Year

• Venus takes about 243 Earth days to rotate once, but only about 225 Earth days to travel around the Sun. That means a Venusian day is longer than a Venusian year!

🌎 Earth's Neighbor

• Venus is very similar to Earth in size and is sometimes called Earth's “sister planet.” However, the conditions on its surface are dramatically different.

THE STORY OF VENUS

Not every Nova was meant to be found. Some were meant to find someone else. Venus was different from the moment she joined the Nova program.

While Comet dreamed of exploring the unknown and Mercury could barely stand still long enough to receive his mission orders, Venus was always watching over the others. When another Nova was nervous, Venus stayed beside them. When someone became lost, Venus helped guide them home. And when the darkness of space seemed just a little too dark, Venus reminded everyone to look for the light.

Eventually, Venus received her assignment to Earth. The other Novas expected the usual orders:

Hide. Wait. Be discovered.

But Venus's mission file said something different.

DONATION MISSION AUTHORIZED.

There would be no clues. There would be no search. There would be no race to find her. Venus had been selected to leave the Nova program and become a companion to someone who needed her more.

So NOVA-003 was donated.

She never waited in a hiding place. She never had a discovery timer. And she was never recovered by a Guardian. Instead, Venus completed her mission the moment she was given away. Because some missions aren't about being found.

They're about being there for someone else.

NOVA-003 holds a unique place in the Nova Registry.

Venus was never part of a Find Nova mission. Instead, she was selected for a special donation mission and permanently given away.

Her mission established a new kind of service for the Nova program—one where completing the mission didn't require someone to find her.

It required Venus to find someone who needed her.

NOVA-003 will never be reassigned, replaced, or issued again.

Other Novas will explore.

Other Novas will hide.

Other Guardians will join the registry.

But there will only ever be one Venus and she will be in the care of someone special.
