BEHIND THE NAME “JUPITER”

Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system.

It's so enormous that more than 1,300 Earths could fit inside it by volume. Jupiter is also more massive than all the other planets in our solar system combined.

Its tremendous gravity has a major influence on the objects traveling through our solar system. Jupiter can capture, redirect, or alter the paths of comets and asteroids that venture nearby.

• Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system. Its diameter is about 11 times wider than Earth's.

• Jupiter is home to the famous Great Red Spot, an enormous storm that has been observed for centuries. The storm itself is wider than Earth!

THE STORY OF JUPITER

Every crew needs someone who refuses to leave anyone behind. For the Novas, that was Jupiter.

From his earliest days in the Nova program, NOVA-005 was different. He wasn't interested in being the fastest. He didn't care about being first. Jupiter wanted to make sure everyone came home. Whenever a Nova traveled into unfamiliar territory, Jupiter watched over the mission.

When an unexpected obstacle appeared, Jupiter stepped forward. When someone needed help, he didn't ask whether it was dangerous. He simply went. Before long, the other Novas gave him a nickname:

The Giant Guardian.

Then Jupiter received a mission of his own. Destination: Amarillo, Texas.

His assignment sounded simple. Deploy to Earth. Remain hidden. Wait for the clues to be released. And see whether one of Amarillo's Guardians could find him. Jupiter accepted.

But before leaving, he turned toward the other Novas. For once, they would be the ones watching him go. Jupiter arrived on Earth and disappeared into his hiding place. The search began. Clues traveled across Amarillo. Guardians searched. And somewhere among them was someone getting closer. Eventually, Jupiter heard footsteps. A Guardian had found him. His mission was complete. The Nova who had spent so much time protecting everyone else finally had a Guardian of his own.
